TOT: Message of Good Cheer (2023 Update)

Having watched The Glenn Miller Story and Dambusters today, I am reminded, not for the first time, of the heroism, self-sacrifice, and ingenuity of the people who defended Britain against the Nazi hordes, and thus gave us the freedom we enjoy today.

After all their sacrifice, what would those people have thought, had they known that only a hundred years after their valiant struggle Britain would be over-run by people with a culture totally alien to our own, with values and customs that are anathema to all decent people?

What will become of the indigenous peoples of these islands? Will we finally be living in ghettoes, fearful of the invaders' 'final solution', as is the case now with the Middle Eastern Christians, who it seems will soon be wiped out?

Happy New Year

Britain is overrun with people from the former British Empire. During WW2 millions from those countries fought to preserve the British colonisation of their countries.

Are you saying that you don't believe in the concept?

Reply to
Tim Streater

It is the handing back of the colonies which has caused those places to become unbearable, thereby causing the exodus.

Chances are about 100:1 you ain't one of those either.

For _ALL_ of us, our racial group is Black African, from the rift valley in what is now Ethiopa.

If ever I am asked for my grouping, as on NHS dentustry forms, that is what I put.

How noble of you. Ever stopped to wonder if that individual was perhaps not black?

'Indigenous' means those that have reasonable historical and cultural continuity in an area. I include in the term all those who who adhere to our values and traditions. I exclude those who have value systems that are totally alien to us. The term 'indigenous' has nothing to do with race or where your grandparents came from, and everything to do with the way you live your life and whether you share the values of your country.

I think that if all you can do is try to nitpick over the use of one word you are really short of something constructive to say.

'believe in a concept' is an interesting phrase.

Do you mean you don't believe that concepts or a given concept exists?

Or that it applies to reality..

I believe in the concept of pixies, just not that it applies to reality as it is commonly understood..

As far as 'indigenous' goes, well of course, once upon a time there were no humans anywhere at all,. so all populations are non-indigenous.

I thought we originated on a coast somewhere. Wiki and DNA suggests East Africa but not Ethiopia. More Congo Kenya Tanzania sort of area..

I tell 'em its none of their business and a racist and insulting question..

Actually, it doesn't.

It means you area native to that place. Today the concept is meaningless.

Any other words you'd like to redefine to suit your deeply unpleasant ends?

Well I was asking Adrian rather than you. I want to know whether he believes that there is no such thing as an "indigenous people" per se, or simply that the phrase cannot be said to apply to the UK.

If the former, perhaps he'd like to explain that to various groups in North and South America, Australia, and New Zealand - and indeed to the UN, which does appear to think these groups are "Indigenous".

If, OTOH, Adrian thinks simply that the concept does not apply to

*these* islands, then I'd like to know why not.
