Thunderbird reply issue >79 characters

If I click reply on any post (even one I sent) I now get error ... text is longer than 79 characters and fails to send.

If I put in some line breaks or delete long lines it works.

Never had this before - so some form of line wrap command must be turned off ... anybody know where it is ?

Not seen that yet... what version are you on?

As a workaround, does CTRL+R work to reformat everything?

It's a bloody nuisance this line length limit thing in Thunderbox. I can't see why it does it. What's it got to do with Thunderbox how long the lines are? It wouldn't be too bad but there's two separate error boxes flashing away when it happens and I have to cancel them both then wait a while until it all gets its marbles back.

It was that Mark Carver who put me onto Thunderbox, so it's all his fault.

What line length limit thing? I'm a fairly intensive Thunderbird (I assume that's what you meant) user and I had no idea there was any line length limit. Am I missing something?

Never had this problem until this new install.

I'll ping a Q onto Mozilla support

I'm using icedove(a thunderbird) 24.5.0 on debian testing. I've just disabled mail.wrap_long_lines In Edit->Preferences->Advanced->General->Config Editor...

Let's see if it does anything... loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggg

Maybe you would consider moving your exciting researches to alt.test (or similar). :-)

In the meantime, install an older version. we had some issues on firefox recently on xp, and it turned out some of the advanced settings had been optimised for multi core processors making things unusable in single core machines. Brian

Go back to version 28ish. I don't use it but it seems like something went weird after that according to others. Brian

I think the folk I read were using the Windoze version. Brian

I'm on 31.2.0 certainly happening for me.

I can't find any option that sets line length or line wrap.
