One thing you should know about protesting, is any legitimate protest was long ago taken over by agitators. When you see a group of five hundred people, four hundred ninety were hired by someone for money, to smash up the furniture. The other ten actually had a legit beef with some issue.

They are also very selective about their causes, so atrocities committed elsewhere (Assad and gas attacks come to mind) are overlooked.
