Strange screws.

I noticed yesterday that the record label says: COMMODORE CLASSICS IN SWING

I bought a panel mounting socket that didn't come with matching screws. M3 started but was the wrong thread pitch M2.5 went in, but pulled out. None of my 'computer case' screws fitted. UNC #6-32 start but bind

The screws that came with another similar socket work. They are 2.86mm OD (M3 is 2.96mm OD)

I am happy to order some more from somewhere, if I knew what to order..

Update. Can that. I decided to tap them out to M3 but the metal inserts started rotating in the soft plastic. So I pushed the inserts out and pushed in M3 inserts that I use in 3D printing... perfect..

What sort of thread pitch? There's a US #4-40 that's about the right size.

Sounds spot on:

I've trashed the old threaded inserts now so I cant tell you. 4-40 sounds ball park tho.

I read the Subject, and started 'singing'[1] an old Cream song.

(Where's that Disraeli Gears album?)

[1] Happily there was no-one near to be inconvenienced.

It put me in mind of an infinitely darker Billie Holiday number.

Ah yes. That was a damn good song.
