Are Screwfix still managing to get deliveries delivered next day . I am sitting waiting on something ordered before 2 pm yesterday . When I phoned to check if it had been despatched they said it had been sent yesterday by Parcel Farce . Stuart

They've always managed it for me. I think it is down to the couriers, usually. If their chosen one has poor service in your area, you might be stuffed.

My only problems occur when they send it with ANC. Sometimes a few days late, other times things missing....

That'll be the excuse for slacking until at least a week today.

Well I placed an order on Tuesday, received someone else's order yesterday and my own today. No replies yet to my email sent yesterday informing them of the mix-up. First time I've used them so I'm not impressed, but everyone can make mistakes. Its how they handle them that can make the difference.

They've also just managed to collect some damaged goods after three and a half weeks. Fortunately I wouldn't except their "we need to see the goods before sending replacements" and after being told the supervisor I was talking to was the manager I told her to go and get a proper manager then who could take some form of responsibility for their c*ck-ups and send me the goods straight away as I needed them NOW !

And they still took two days after that.

How they stay in business is beyond me - if any of the other postal places have it I use them.

I placed my first order with them on Tuesday. It turned up today (Thursday). OK so it was a day late, but I did get a wonderful spirit level welcome gift, and a free cylinder thermostat. I'll let them know about their error, and see if they want to come and collect it ;-)

They will arrange collection alright.

I suggest you don't tell them about the error and sell the item on ebay or elsewhere. And if you feel bad about doing that then give the proceeds to a local charity or drop it in a collection box.

If the item isn't shown on their documentation then they don't know you've got it.

IME, Screwfix are *brilliant*, compared to everyone else.

The real weak link in buying stuff from the Internet is that last quarter mile. I've lost count of the number of times we've had to have stuff sent again because it's vanished completely, the courier can't find us (why should I pay for delivery, only to have to drive to the depot and collect?), the couriers ignore the FAXed directions, we've found a soggy Jiffy bag propped against the front door, the courier claims there was no-one in (my wife is at home nearly all the time).

Grrrr.

I thought they were spamming bastards whose web site you would never venture near again, even with a six foot mouse cable ?

[And yes, I did see the word "compared" and realise these two views are not in themselves mutually exclusive.]

I don't object to the speed of delivery from ScrewFix - what I object to is that they make such a big thing about it but fail to "deliver". If I bought eggs from a company that proudly splashes "...where a box of a dozen eggs contains 14" and yet 20% or 30% of the boxes I buy only end up containing 12 eggs I would complain to the ASA - even if they have small print somewhere that says "not all boxes actually contain 14 eggs". Basically if they can't deliver the promise they shouldn't make it, let alone make it their slogan!!

No. BES are *brilliant*. I'm nothing to do with them but somebody here recommended them when I was after a fire valve and since then I've ordered over £1000 worth of stuff from them.

EVERYTHING has arrived next day, 100% correct. No ifs, no buts, no maybes. Proper service. Just like you used to get from some mythical shop.

Possibly everybody else on-line is crap of course. But from my view I just wish BES would stock a few more things so that I could stop using Screwyou all together.
