Screwfix + Lynx = A change in service contract (at last)

I don't know if it's just me who continually has issues with deliveries from Screwfix when they happen to be delivered by Lynx, but recently enough was enough and I raised a stink. About two weeks ago an order from Screwfix was to be delivered in two parts, one via ParcelForce, the other via Lynx. The ParcelForce delivery arrived next day before 1:00pm. No sign of the Lynx delivery, I waited in all day, delayed going to see the in-laws just in case it came before 7:00pm. Of course, this was on a Friday and so I was unable to get hold of the Lynx depot until Monday morning. Was told that it had been delivered and left in the front of the house, no card, no ring of the doorbell, just dumped (allegedly). After a week of being constantly on the phone to Screwfix, they finally reshipped that part of the order (it was only =A315 worth of plastic waste pipe). Shipped Thursday (via Lynx again), didn't arrive till Monday, again, left in front yard, no door bell ringing, no card to say they called.

Anyway I phoned Screwfix today to inform them and just had a chappie call me back. Apparently, after this week Screwfix have changed their contract with Lynx and they will no longer be allowed to leave a single parcel without receiving a delivery signature, they will still be able to leave it with neighbours etc.

Just thought I'd share this with the group in case, like me, you groan whenever you see a shipment being delivered by Lynx.

I have a similar problem with Lynx, they're local driver says he can;t get his lorry down the 2 miles of lanes to us! We have daily deliveries in lorries, weekly coaches, skips, builder merchant flat bed, anything up to artics!

I think screwfix need to change from Lynx deliveries, I stayed in to wait for a delivery on Saturday, left it till lunch then nothing got though to Lynx depot they said driver couldnt find our house, fair enough why didnt he phone they have my number "oh no they dont replied the girl at lynx" "but i need the parcel now are you going to redeliver it today" "no we close in 10mins you will have to wait till Monday" "well u better stay open till i get there then"

Oh when I did get there and signed, surprise surprise they had my telephone number!

Screwfix seem to have their system sorted out at last they just seem to have to sort out their delivery DD

I've taken to including my phone number and brief instructions on which country lanes to take in an elongated version of my address that just fits the Screwfix web-site address box.

But same experience of service with Lynx - 110mm drainage pipes just left sitting over the farm gate even though I was in.

I have bad news. ANC are no better. I was in all day today, yet they still left a "We were unable ..." card.

On a similar vein - last year I was waiting for a citylink delivery. "Oh we called and nobody was in - we put a card through the letterbox" they said.

Would have been a tad difficult to do that as we had double glazing people in all day and there was no door in the frame - never mind a letterbox.....

I've been carded with "left with neighbour". After trying all 3 immediate neighbours it turned out to be opposite side of road and 7 doors down, they spotted me knocking on doors and brought it over to me. Nan had "left downstairs" (she lives in an upstairs flat) and it turned out to be the shed at the end of the block the dustbins are kept in.

Parcelforce came round with our new shower, saw that the house was gutted and full of builders, so took the parcel back to the supplier with the news that "we didn't live there any more". But they also left me a yellow card saying they'd taken it to the depot, just to add to the confusion.

On Wed, 15 Dec 2004 22:54:17 +0000, Nick Atty strung together this:

I got that with UPS, driver drove past the shop I was working at and noticed that it was closed so went back to the depot. The fact that the stuff he had in the back of his van was to fit into the shop I was refurbishing never crossed his mind, nor did the idea to actually stop and ask one of the 10 or so people there were working inside and outside of the shop on that day.

Well, deleivery drivers in general aren't known for their intelligence or ethics. I used to hear plenty of stories of drivers tricks one of which was to deliberately damage goods where the delivery address was too far away from the road so that they didn't have to deliver it.

My last screwfix order was "delivery only with a signature" but found the box outside my front door when I got home from work (which was fine 'cos nobdy had stolen it.)
