Road signs

I don't hear oddly dressed pedestrians whining about how hard done by they are that someone else has paid for pavements for them, though.

And as cyclists can't use the motorways they shouldn't have to pay for them. How many millions per miles does a motorway cost? How much does a cyclway cost per mile? Hum, Looks like cyclists are due a rather large tax refund to me.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFS. I am just looking at my pay slip and there is a very large deduction for tax.

I shall demand a refund because you say I don't need to pay any tax. I also demand a refund on my NI, VAT on everything I buy, VED on two motor vehicles........

It was a question, moron.

How much do you pay in taxes overall? What proportion of taxes are spent on so called cycle facilities? Multiply those two numbers together.

And given that TMH is whining that cyclists don't use them, do you think they were actually built for cyclists, or to get cyclists out of the way of whining motorists?

Well, that's OK, then, because cyclists don't pay for motorways. Or indeed, any other roads.

Does it say "cyclist tax"?

Its just a way of taxing the rich(er).. if you can afford a car you can pay extra tax. the same as if you can afford to smoke you pay extra tax. I think you are correct about having a registration for a cycle.. however as the VED would be zero it would cost motorists more to pay for it. I don't think motorists would mind paying extra for the scheme though. They would have to extend the scheme for covering the uninsured to cover cycles too but that wouldn't add much to car insurance. For a change I support your ideas. Are you going to start a petition on the PM's web site or do you need someone to start it for you?

Not all of them. It's an optional payment, even for motorists.

We all do - so what? Pedestrian tax? A special cyclist tax is politically and financially unacceptable - nobody's going to do it - so quit your whining.

Remembering that since until fairly recently you were a regular cyclist puts your comments into context.

You are correct. You do not think.

Errm no. I'm not whining that cyclists don't use them. I'm complaining that they actually exist and that I paid for them & the cheapskate cyclist didn't.

VED is an optional payment?

What colour is the sky on your planet?

Chatham Dockyard. Not Chatham Docks. Dockyard where they built HMS Victory etc.

Yes. We've covered this already. You have the choice of cars where the VED is zero. Most people don't, but that doesn't mean the option isn't there, it merely means that VED is such a small amount in the overall context of car running costs that it's not worth worrying about.

Council tax?

Around here the footpaths are used for parking on. Either half on or fully on :-(

A choice of 13 vechicles out of 4,855. So small its statistically irrelevant.

Great. You can pay mine next time.
