1965 so it must have been Harold Wilson.

Many services need to be government provided on a group basis. We never know in the case of health, police etc whether we will need them or not. But everyone should contribute on an equal basis. If we don't need them, well we have been fortunate.

But I don't see why someone should contribute more because they have worked harder.

The economic collapse has affected other places with sensible government much less. Canada. Australia for example.

B&B when on a loan funded spending spree to buy votes. Brown was responsible for our economic governance. Brown stole your pension. Brown sold our gold off cheap. B&B went in for PFI that is ruining our health service.

You are full of bollocks. I was in the NHS at that time. No patients were even inconvenienced le talone put in danger.

I expect the ones on strike were marxist gits anyway. The ones I knew certainly were. Marxist =3Dextreme socialist.

You'll find a lot of Quakers joined bomb disposal. That is demonstration of true bravery and concern for one's fellow man, and a belief in non-violence.

The pension was the most insidious one. Many people won't realise he's done it for 30 years - and then blame the government of the day.

Mind this lot I think are at risk of causing high inflation with this money printing business, and that will cause even worse problems for those of us trying to save for the future.

Certainly got to give unquestioning respect to anyone in bomb disposal.

There were no picket lines either. In fact, everything went on as normal. No union would have dared to put a patient's life at risk. That would have played right into Maggies plans in any event

You are right. The debt is being concealed by using the QE to "buy debt". But at some point this new bubble will burst.

And the thing that might do it is the plans of the new governor of the BofE. ie to stimulate growth. To date, inflation has been held at around 2%. However this will cease, interest rates will rise. A lot of people won't be able to pay their mortgages & will be put out of their homes. You watch.

Isn't high inflation devaluation by another name? Negative returns on saving must encourage spending which is presumably what the govt. wants. The trick must be to spend on appreciating assets.

And the Australian presenters /voiceover merchants, who insist on pronouncing the metric ton like a fish. FFS, the slight difference between the actual weights isn't important when it's an inaccurate presentation, so no need to distinguish. Simply use 'ton'.

"It's a tunny, mate."

Professor Cox is guilty of many things but he has never been accused of having flat presentation. I agree with the patronising though, would add the fluffy-wuffy level his lectures seem to be set at (must entertain the masses though) .

Not all, but Bliar didn't help them retain their value when he wanted

50% of school leavers to go to Uni.

You resigned from the Tory party because Argentina invaded the Falklands?

Please explain your logic? Is the 'value' only in rarity? Not as a method of confirming a standard of education?

Or are you implying the standards were lowered for a pass?

BTW, if you consider education for the masses a bad thing, why not just say so?
