But without a referendum, there was no mandate to make such sweeping changes.

The problem is that - for example - we (or many people - not me) elected the Tories on the understanding that Boris would actually leave the EU. We didn't elect him to stay with his foot in the door and we didn't elect him to implement a completely stupid NetZero policy that will bankrupt the country. Nor did we elect him to remove all traces of British History from the nation and put biological men in women's prisons where they can commit rape, just because they claim they are, in fact, women.
More fool them. Anyone with more than half a brain cell must have known what an inept charlatan Johnson is.
They got what they asked for and will live to regret it.
No., it wasn't
No, it wasn't.
Nowhere did he say that he was.
Why do your appear to think that a private prosecution and a book are the same thing?
Every EU Directive, yes. But every EU Regulation (not the same thing as a Directive) is deemed to apply to all member states the moment it is enacted by the EU. No member state legislation neeeded, so no UK legislation needed.
Why d'ye think there was that Bill passed not so long after the Referendum to enact all such regulation into British law? Because without it, the moment we actually left the EU would occur, and all those regulations would at that moment cease to apply to the UK, thus creating chaos.
Such a Bill, by the way, is called a Reception Statute. You should look it up, Winky has an article.
No Constitution? You mean we have no Bill of Rights, the Habeus Corpus Act doesn't exist, neither does Magna Carta, and nor do the various Representation of the People Acts? Gosh - who knew?
And if directives are not enacted by the slave nations, the EU will fine them.
The people who cancelled British History.
Fred could do worse than reading about the British Constitution. Winky has an entry for that, too.
To this day I have no idea what the Labour party policy about Brexit would have been if they had won the General Election. I suspect that this and the Corbyn Effect were instrumental in Conservative's very large win. If Labour
*had* gone ahead with Brexit, I wonder whether they would have negotiated a better or worse deal than we got.The more intransigent the EU became in the negotiations, the more and more certain I was that we made the right decision to leave. Europe (as the EEC) was fine until the EU took over and tried to ride roughshod over all the individual nations' sovereignty as regards immigration and tax policy.
They should have recognised the views of their constituents who elected them.
Yes, even when those views differed from those of all the political parties.
You got what you asked for and will live to regret it.
How can you claim that? You do not know what he asked for and the other bit is conjecture.
I assume he voted Nasty at the general election and for Johnson to be PM. If that's not the case I apologise.
Yes, the last bit's conjecture but I believe we'll all live to regret the country electing a one-trick-pony Brexiteer government headed by the lying, incompetent halfwit Johnson.
Can't dispute the "lying halfwit" bit. But if you're intent on the pessimistic view, things can't get any worse. Of course, one could die before the "regret" kicks in. Whether that is an optimistic or otherwise view is relative.
