OT Irish Border

It's only because we are being 'represented' by Quisling May, Dave. The EU's taking the piss because they know May is at best an utterly hopeless negotiator. I have *no* idea how the old bitch is still PM when she hasn't got a damn f****ng thing right in her entire time in her present job and at the Home Office before that. This hopelessly stupid woman is a slow motion train wreck at a time when we could really do with a Thatcher or a Churchill to stick it to the enemy.

True, but they're not doing themselves any favours by stirring things up against us. We can be 'in the way' as it were between them and europe.

No good for perishables, I'm afraid. Ireland's chief export is of course the potato - and an awful lot of Irish spuds are going to go off during a long and choppy sea crossing, should they be forced to avoid going through England.

I doubt there are enough Irish on here for it really to be worth trolling any to get them irritated, but setting that aside why should Irish spuds be any more delicate than those often seen in UK supermarkets that have been shipped in from Egypt and other African countries. I thought one of the advantages of being out of the EU was being able to source food from non EU markets. Now you are saying perishable foodstuffs go off on long sea crossings. Better stay in the EU then and keep the crossings short as possible such as UK -France. Any how spuds are not difficult to store, kept right they keep for months. They aren?t that perishable like a soft fruit would be.

Potatoes can be stored up to 6 months at least

And are seldom worth exporting.

Ireland exports dairy products mostly, in the food sector.

if we leave with no deal, we wont have to negotiate a trade deal with the EU. Only the most naive could think that we would have to settle some arbitrary divorce bill in full.

There Fixed that for you.

Look how many countries DO NOT HAVE A TRADE DEAL WITH THE EU.

Like China.

As opposed to some of ours whose time expired some 10 years ago?

Meaning the EU must have helped us to bail out ours?

Do you ever think before posting?

Perhaps you've not noticed that May got the support of 2/3rds of her MPs. But that number isn't enough to get her 'deal' through parliament. And the

1/3rd certainly ain't going to get their wish of a no deal passed either.

So although she's pretty useless, she was probably the least worse choice.

You seem to have a short memory. Your idol Thatcher got chucked out by her party. And Churchill was a useless PM in peacetime.

Dear ol' Turnip. Now comparing China to the UK.

Antarctica doesn't have a trade deal either. Perhaps we could sell it ice?

I see you have swallowed more project fear bullshit.

It would be if there was an ounce of truth in any of it

The no deal doesn?t need to be passed by parliament, its what happens automatically if parliament can get anything passed now that parliament has invoked Article 50. While parliament can in theory revoke Article 50 now, its even less likely that that will get passed by parliament now.

More that due to the detail of how she would be replaced, that couldn?t happen before the 29 March deadline so there would be no point in replacing her now. And in fact now that they were stupid enough to try to replace her, she is guaranteed to be able to stay for a year more now if she wants to.

Why?

Well you might be right. In which case no trade agreement.

He isnt comparing China to the UK, just pointing out that it is perfectly possible, and in fact quite common for some countries to trade with the EU without a trade agreement, under WTO rules.

Thanks for your kind words.

It's quite likely Malawi doesn't have a trade deal with the EU either.

Odd that one so nationalistic as you picks countries out of the air as an example for the UK - when it suits you.

As I pointed out in another part of this thread, that is utter bollocks.
