The Missis who started driving some years later than me was somewhat surprised when we watching the news about the recent situation in the Middle East when I remarked that I had a couple of fuel Ration Books issued in 1973 , and even more surprised to find I still had them.
They were printed fairly roughly and looked even older than the year of
1956 when it was said they were first intended for the Suez Crisis. In they end they were not brought into use, I had two vehicles at the time so have two sets one for vehicles under 1100cc or 1 to 9 HP the other between
1101 and 1500 or 10 to 13 HP
What I cannot recall is how I obtained them . Anyone old enough to remember ? Did we go to the Post Office or something or were they posted to registered keepers.
