OT: DHL Express collection help

Was expecting a parcel from out of the country today. Had to leave for half an hour, and surprise, surprise, a "Sorry we missed you" card when I came back...

I am going away for a week tomorrow, and want to collect from their depot on my return. Their automated phone system only allows you to inform them of your intention to collect, but makes no mention of how long they would keep the parcel for you. Also, couldn't find a working phone number for the depot (saynoto0870 suggestion rings for ever), or any useful information on their website.

I really don't want it sent back to the sender because they judge me not to turn up fast enough...

Any idea how long they keep parcel for collection for?

TIA.

Thanks a lot - spoke to them and they'll keep it until my return.

I would just like to publically thank yesterday's DHL driver...

I'd ordered a mobile phone from an online outfit, but it wasn't until too late that I realised that (a) they refused to deliver anywhere but the credit-card holder's address (nobody's usually at home during the day) and (b) the order would be delivered by DHL (always a nightmare as their collection depot is about 200 miles away, versus 1 mile for Royal Mail). Was likely going to end in the phone being sent back and the order cancelled

There was about 4 hrs mid-day when there was nobody at home yesterday; to my relief there was no card left during that time. DHL turned up at about 5:45pm; and said he'd called earlier but nobody was in, so he came back! Unheard of IME, but thank you very much DHL...

Had a laptop delivered by DHL a few weeks ago that the seller had marked "do not leave with neighbours", the DHL guy had scribbled his mobile number on the card, when I phoned it he'd taken the parcel home with him (2 miles away) rather than take it back to the depot (25 miles away) made for easy collection ...

Another positive DHL story. I too missed a delivery from them. The delivery driver (who lived fairly close to me, compared with the depot which was miles away) took the package home and dropped it off on his way to work the next morning.

I wonder if the DHL drivers are coached into being helpful - they certainly seem more conscientious than others.

That's completely standard practice for DHL@home, If you want to collect from a DHL depot you have to get the delivery agent to take it there.

I'd say their system works well then, I actually phoned the mobile number on the card, asking if I could collect it from the depot (there was no consignment number on the card) as I'm virtually never in during the day, so with the "don't leave with neighbours" flag, it was looking like the quickest way to get the item.

Just don't get me started on how crap DHL are ...

That's not to say that all their drivers are too
