'Just give us a drink'

Aug 15, 2009 22 Replies

My father who sold trucks often got bottles of whisky from customers at Xmas. But hardly ever drank. If anyone (rare) got offered alcohol at home it would be sherry. Mother used to complain about the space these bottles took up in her cabinet. ;-)

I fit four wireless programmers every week. The owners of the house are not paying me, the plumbers are.

Quite often the owner of the house on these jobs will ask me if I can change a light fitting or do some other small job whilst I am there. These jobs are priced as "buy me a drink".

Nine out of ten times I am given £20.
