Indeed. Hoping an unusual excuse will get him off. FWIW would someone who had to go out to buy a screwdriver know how to use it?
Somewhat scary IMHO that although from his actions, it sounds as if the bloke was totally off his head, despite that he was barely over the legal blood-alcohol limit.

After all, who is going to believe his story that a builder actually screwed the floorboards back down?
