Glue-ing ridge tiles

Several of my ridge tiles had corners knocked off ( and worse) by the roofers over the winter, what sort of glue might last for decades up on the roof?

Some kind of mixer like araldite?

I would put the broken sides out of view, with mortar underneath.

If you're gluing the bits back onto the tiles, yes epoxy. And there are far cheaper epoxies than araldite. But you talk about putting mortar under and putting the damage out of sight, so its hard to see what you have in mind

sticky and waterproof, will need support until it sets, 12-24hrs. Better value than epoxy.

First I want to mend them. Then put them on the roof ridge and mortar them and leave them there for scores of years without the glue deteriorating. Only one side is visible from the garden and road, so the repairs can be on the other side. [g]

Or better still, lob em in a skip and put new ones up, they're only 3 quid each

No they're not, I want them all the same which means hunting through reclaimation yards, time and money, if they exist... [g]

If you can fix a tile every 3 minutes, thats 20 an hour, or 3x60=3D=A3180 an hour, less a tenner's worth of epoxy is =A3170 an hour. Not bad. Avoid quick setting epoxy.

The glue itself wont be visible from the ground, its only if lumps are missing it'll be seen. Only thing to watch is that the mating surfaces are fully wetted, you dont want a tiny crack to experience freeze-thaw and break a new lump off.

Fairly weak cement mortar is used to mount them on the roof. That way when they do eventually come unstuck theyre not all broken up, and can be remortared.

I meant replace all of them. If your roof is red, use black tiles and if the tiles are black, buy red ridges. Unless it's a hipped roof, there can't be more than 20 of them

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "george [dicegeorge]" saying something like:
