Charging points have been fitted to 3 street lamps near me. I have seen them in use. There were a 2+ metres of cable from the car to the socket. While it was bright yellow, it was also spilling onto the footway - much as in the photo here

Ratio of street lamps to cars for the road is around 1 to 10. So will there be very many more lamps? Or much longer cables?

Yup. Very few single garages are of a convenient size for any modern car. Hence them not being used for one.
