More than one exchange engine firm based in my old home town of Twickenham made the news more than once re their 'reconditioned' engines.

Indeed, and they sometime do work that isn't needed. All I wanted was a rectifier or a voltage regulator replacing and they sandblasted the aluminium castings which were in perfect condition anyway. If it had been cleaned up properly it might not have been a problem but in the short journey back from the rebuilders to home there was a pile of sand on the floor mat. I couldn't be arsed to go back so took it apart myself and blew all the sand out with compressed air.

perhaps he's not english.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember Adrian C saying something like:

B-cos e cn strng 2 wds 2gthr, doesn't make him a pita. All I see is a bloke seeking reassurance he's not buying the wrong part.

The rest of us might not mind the punters checking that we aren't just some c*ck punting tat on the net, but then we aren't Geoff.

If we also were omnipotent then we would understand the audacity, but as mere mortals we can't be expected to understand.
