Bosch 1000 express washing machine wont heat, element ok

Hi, anyone any ideas why my wash machine wont heat. Element is ok. There is a small stat / thermistor beside the spade connections on the element. How does this work, how can I test it. Is there a contactor that this activates? Greatful for any help. Thanks
