It wasn't *that* much more expensive to buy some than to rent them for the job I'm doing (replacing some ceiling fans).

They are all metal so the electrics may be more of a risk.
Actually, Mythbusters did some tests with crash test dummies on whether decapitation was possible. it was not, a bruised neck certainly, but no lasting harm. They had to employ huge industrial motors and blades made like swords to achieve the result in the end. Brian
