my TV remote battereism last a lot longer than my kb or mouse batteries have. I;ve had my TV about 3 years now and haven't replaced the batteries.
I've found that bluetooth devices use a lot more power than my TV remote does as my TV remote doesn't transmit unless I press a button, where as my kb is always on and so was the mouse.

And, of course, there's no denying the matter of your advanced age once your grandchildren start attending university. :-(
Anyway, age is nothing to get worked up about. Barring accidents, it's something everyone has to face. Becoming old is inevitable, becoming wise, less so.

Turn down the TV during "action" sequences and back up again for dialogue.

I don't often go to the cinema, but made an exception for the new Bladerunner a few weeks ago, I expected it would be needlessly loud and indeed the loudest sections intruded on the enjoyment in two distracting ways ...

Thank you muchley , We are packing for the trip to Mothers to ensure she is not alone over Christmas and nearly forgot to pack mine. I'm going down early for medical transport purposes which makes it a long week . Armed with some good books and those I can survive her telly choice. And while BT broadband does draw criticism from some at least it means I can log on via her neighbours so avoiding the "you're using all my allowance up" barb. OTOH by Wednesday I might feel it's worth an extra 400 miles driving and come back and go down again. Visits to relations are like catching a big Fish ,the initial Joy gets replaced by things going off after a few days.

My local place is a large complex. They have to run the sound loud on even a film which is only dialogue. To cover up the soundtrack from the adjacent one. It really does spoil the enjoyment of the sort of films I go to see. Which are very definitly not the sort that rely on loud music and FX to work.

10 years ago there were $2 to £1. We were on holiday in then USA at the time.
GBP/USD is not far off where it was in 2009, 2002, 1993, 1987, 1983 ...

In 1983/4 the Pound was at parity with the USD, and Oil was down to $10.
Since 1992 the pound has wobbled up and down from $1.30 to $1.60 most of the time and only moves outside this range when something gets the speculators, short-sellers and day-traders going.
