You said "refined and cultured".
There os no valid reason for not multitasking. Why waste time eating then watching TV when you can do both at once and in a comfier chair?
Socialise by discussing the TV program. Or even just sit on the comfy chairs with the TV off and talk.
Consuming food. That's what foods for.
It's the numbers that are important.
