What do you think the hole is for in the middle of this hose splitter?

The gusset adds some rigidity and may make the material flow better when casting.

The hoes would most likely be just for hanging it

Tooling holes for secondary machining operations?

I'll guess - the obvious - mounting holes. My question is why would anyone think that they are for anything else ? John T.

when not in use hanging them on a nail makes them less likely to get lost than throwing them in a drawer or on a shelf. Driving a spike or tent peg through the hole to hold them in place in the lawn makes them easier to find when the grass gets long and you want to turn them off or on, particularly if the peg has a flag on it.

Could just be for positioning during manufacturing. Or just to stake them in place in the garden. But, notice it is only on the ones with valves, so I'm voting for manufacturing.

I leave my red electrica extension cord lying in the grass all year and after only a week it can be really hard to find.

Given the hole is in the same spot on different brands, it's not likely for hanging up (why would some have multiple holes if it was for hanging up).

It's probably a gusset as someone already stated although that wouldn't need the hole unless somehow the hole confers rigidity to that gusset.

But I can't find anything in a google search that says for sure.

Indeed. when I was sick once, my next-door neighbor mowed my lawn and he cut the cord in two. Maybe he didnt' even know it. I thanked him and neither of us mentioned the cord.
