I use a Mini Trangia, 330g and that includes the .8 liter pan. Absolutely quiet and much less screwing around than the WhisperLite.
The Trangia burner has an o-ring screw cap so you can save unburned fuel and is very sturdy. However, one cat food can and a few minutes you can make your own:
The 1lb Coleman style tanks are sold in the UK but aren’t nearly as popular as they are in the US. People tend to prefer cheaper ones, especially the aerosol style beasts that have become popular in recent years.
Refillable larger cylinders- 6kg and above - are used in motorhomes and caravans but you need to weigh up the initial cost of the cylinders to be sure they are economically viable. While you can save a lot per refill, the initial investment is high- typically £300 for two 11kg cylinders with the gubbins required to fit them.
There is another factor. If you travel to Europe, you can’t exchange your empty UK cylinders for full ones. That makes refillables more attractive. Another option, which I have done in the past, is to get a European cylinder (in my case a French Le Cube) which I carry when traveling in France. We carry one UK cylinder and the Le Cube, using the Cube. When it is empty, we switch to the Uk cylinder until we can get to a supermarket which stocks Le Cubes- most do. As we tow a car, that is usually only a short time.
