I don't live as far North as Aberfeldy. I can get on the motorway within 10 minutes.

Even if it is all motorway there is the M25 and you would be lucky to get an average of 60mph for around 40 miles with the traffic and the large number of speed cameras. That's assuming no queue at the Datrford tunnel.
I once di White City to Aberfeldy in aday , thelast hour inthedark (and it was snowing). Quite shattering. The hotel owner, who knew me, said "You need a drink, before going to your room"
Yes it is. You can't easily get to 100 on single carriageways. Most of the journey for me is motorway.
The M25 is a small part of it, and why my average was 80 and not 100.
You can if it isn't rush hour. And think about it, doing 100 instead of 70 (which is what Google assumes you do) for only 1 hour gets you 30 miles further saving you nearly half an hour.
And what exactly is stopping me doing 100 here? https://www.google.com/maps/@53.9292676,-2.757998,3a,75y,200.37h,90.83t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sebG66Lucw1MdulqfFqTDYA!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DebG66Lucw1MdulqfFqTDYA%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D280.69138%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656
Basic maths, sorry for confusing you, go get a calculator.
That image is typical of most of the motorway. Only occasionally do you meet a guy overtaking another guy overtaking a truck and get slowed to 70 or 80 for 10 seconds.
How far do you think you travel at 30mph in 1 hour?
