On Topic: Faucet stem hole?

Have you tried opening the tap all-the-way to apply some physical pressure in the fully open position - then close it tightly and repeat a couple times .. John T.

The anti-syphon valve assembly is easily and cheaply replaced. Just did one for a friend. $5 canadian at Home Despot or $23 on Amazon.

The anti siphon (Vacuum breaker) if fine.

This is a deliberate hole placed in the valve stem up next to the knob.

Why would the < solid brass ? > valve stem - be hollow - ? in order to allow your _deliberate hole_ to leak ? One wonders .. ? Sometimes a very small high pressure leak will appear to come from somewhere else .. ? .. I'm still betting on valve packing .. shooting up the stem. John T.

The cross drilled hole in the stem is a "weep hole" for the antibackflow valve (anti-syphon)

A: The small hole below the handle on your frost-proof wall hydrant is called a weep hole. This hole allows backpressure relief when water is siphoning into your water supply. The frost-proof wall hydrant is equipped with an anti-siphon device that prevents backpressure from siphoning the water in the hose and a wall frost-proof wall hydrant that can contaminate your household water supply. When backpressure or backflow occurs, the siphoning water will “weep” from the hole by the handle rather than into your water supply.

Yep - thanks Clare. Perhaps T has 1 faucet with back pressure and 1 faucet without .. due to an elevated hose hanger or sumpthin' ? .. just curious. John T.

Here is what is confusing me. When I have my spray nozzle at the end of my hose turned off and the hole starts to spray, the pressure is what is provided by the water service. The pressure (blockage) from the hose is the same as the water service, not greater.

So, I presume the faucet need to be replaced. Your thoughts?
