You said "foisted". It there some downside?

Bloom did not generate the jobs they promised the state and get a bonus for producing the electricity making it more expensive. Fuel cells are not pollution free, wear out and must be replaced. I also believe there are more efficient cells and even turbine generators are more efficient.

Might mention that Delaware also got screwed by Fisker automotive that took over GM plant collecting a bundle from the state to make EV's but pulled out. Then there were offshore windmills where people collected millions from the state and never produced.

This is true of everything. The question arises, do they require more of less maintenance than other methods currently in use?

A better question is if they are economically viable for home backup power compared to the established, cheap solution, eg a nat gas engine solution which can be had starting at under $1000. Apparently the obvious answer is no or we'd see them being used. Google broken?

I see no cost mentioned but elsewhere says a bundle:

When you see no price mentioned, it says a lot. Apparently this is a startup and they have a lot of fluff, but no pricing. Mr. T would need two of those to run his blower and I bet they will cost plenty. He's also still confused, saying he needs an inverter too? And from the looks of it, vent holes all over the front, it's not intended for outdoor use either. I would expect that when they have them for sale, they will be priced at a significant premium to a generator solution, I bet you can get a 5KW generator for a lot less.

Home fuel cells have been researched for decades but are not ready for prime time. Maybe cost is the big issue. I know of an R&D group that gave up on them years ago.

I'm still wondering what Mr. T's big secret is about why a generator isn't acceptable? Maybe he's working on a Proud Boys camp in the woods and doesn't want the noise that will attract attention.
