Nobody except the far, far left is planning to disband the police, and they can't accomplish it.

Do we really need schools to call the cops when kids are pointing their fingers like a gun? Let's take a little of that money they spend on tear gas and make room in the budget for more creative solutions.

I distrust social workers as much as anybody, but it's a crying shame so much police time is wasted on crap that any grandmother could solve.

It is just as bad here in Wilmington, DE. It's been bad and when they hired a new police chief a couple of years ago they got somebody from Chicago. This weekend I think 2 were killed in Wilmington that has

Chicago is BLM free zone. It's acceptable since it's most likely black on black crime. No protests, no riots, no looting, no statues being destroyed, no brand names being changed and overall, no catering to the snowflake whiners who will continue to seek more changes because big daddy doesn't have the spine to say "F*ck you!" "Aunt Jamima or Eskimo Pie is not a racial product". Give an inch, they'll want a mile. We're a VERY weak country.

The schools have gone to crap as far a discipline and teaching responsibility for yourself. Most seem to be run by the far left. I agree that grandmothers can solve most of the problems but the new generation of parent is questionable. Maybe the 911 operators can determine to send a cop or a grandmother.

I really don't care if thugs what to shoot at each other but when kids are in the crossfire that is unacceptable. Or should be.

Deterioration of schools started back in the 1960s. I had a Social Studies teacher that went to school to become a teacher so he could avoid the Vietnam era draft. Probably many did. They became teachers, eventually administrators. There is a pattern developing and now we see the results.

Exactly. One of the news/opinion shows the other night had on a couple of police chiefs from major metro cities and they both said 80+% of police calls are for non-police reasons. Both said they'd welcome with open arms a decrease in their budgets if it meant offloading the non-police stuff to an agency that's better able to handle it, leaving the dangerous stuff to the actual police.

As changes go, is police reform going to be easy? Is it going to be smooth and without any issues? Will they always get it right the first time? No, no, and no, but the current approach isn't ideal, either. Let's have a conversation and see where it goes.

I won't be able to have Aunt Jemima pancakes with Mrs. Butterworth's syrup and Land o' lakes butter ever again due to loss of brand recognition.

Nor be able to watch the Little Drummer Boy during Christmas or Gone with the Wind.

It's hard to use Father's Day and Chicago in the same sentence with a straight face. Maybe if more kids had live in fathers...

Good. Aunt Jemima and Mrs. Butterworth's are crap. Make your pancakes from scratch and buy real maple syrup. Buy any butter that's graded AA. I buy the store brand.

There you have it. One person doesn't like a product and expects others to confom to the same belief. The typical self entitled mindset of today.

I actually do get real maple syrup, there is no comparison. I'm partial to the dark amber. My neighbor makes that and apple cider too. Another is a beekeeper, and another makes preserves from our grapes. Lots of houses being built, but we still have small farms scattered about.

Oh, that's nice. I prefer dark amber too.

I've got a structure built onto the back of my garage that appears to have been a chicken coop. I won't own anything that craps, so it will remain a storage shed.

I take my pancakes straight up, not as a sponge for butter and sugar.

I do miss that about spring. There were a couple of sugar houses across the line in Vermont. The jack wax was the best part.

Ah, well, everybody's different. I seldom eat pancakes and put so little syrup on them that it really doesn't matter. I can't imagine dousing the plate in so much syrup that it runs off the pancakes, but I know lots of people like it that way.

Breakfast is a pretty utilitarian meal for me. I'm perfectly happy with oatmeal every day.
