Garage Door opener Jerks !

Our Garage Door opener Jerks when it opens and closes. Its like theopener does not make an effort to open easily or slowly, its like itjust dropped the clutch. does not matter if its up and closing orclosed and starting to open !Are there any openers on the market that stated the movement slowly ?Thanks

I am an easygoing guy so did not care and it is obvious his IQ is close to his age.

In my case there was a lot of friction which caused the spring to jump which corresponded exactly with the jerkiness of the door opening and closing.
