Just tried to replace a Glacier Bay kitchen faucet at Home Depot where the spout tube broke off at the base. Told me they can't replace because I bought in 2019 and only have until 2020. Told me to call Glacier Bay. Well Home Depot owns Glacier Bay! Nice help there. Bought a different brand.
Ever taken advantage of "lifetime warranty" on Home Depot kitchen faucet?

They probably said just do without the kitchen faucet until we send a replacement in 4 to 6 weeks.
Kohler, Moen, Delta. Skip Home Depot junk.
I bought a torque wrench from Home Depot. I forget the brand name, but it was a similar situation. Home Depot basically "owned" the brand. When I tried to get the tool replaced under warranty, HD no longer carried it. They contacted the "company" and were told that they no longer make that tool. The CSR at HD depot was nice enough to let me choose a different torque wrench from whatever brand they were selling at the time. It wasn't exactly the same, in fact it was a little lower in quality AFAICT, but it was better than getting nothing.
Buy Moen. Lifetime warranties. I have a friend that just bought a house to use as an Airbnb. All the fixtures were Moen. He had one bad shower cartridge, so he took out all the others, called 1-800-BUY-MOEN and got replacements for all of them - 2 showers and 3 sinks - for free.
Delta has decided my lifetime guaranteed faucets and shower valves are no longer alive. (lifetime "finish" guarantee) They said I must have got them wet. Price Pisser did send me some proprietary O rings for my kitchen faucet a while ago tho.
You got the shower valves wet? That had to be pure carelessness. How could that happen?
That doesn't seem right. 4 of them were good, so if he wanted to replace them he should have paid for them.
Silly me, we used the shower. They really did tell me the failing finish was caused by water dripping on the valve.
Wow, but I have to agree with him. If you had a steady drip for 50 or
60 years it could erode the finish.Amazing how they can come up with that stuff.
Define good? They were all of the same vintage. One was bad, the rest...well who knows when? I have a couple of Moen fixtures. Based on my experience, you ask, they send. No questions asked by them.
But I'll let him know that you don't approve.
Not bad. You said one was bad. You certainly implied the others were not bad.
" Moen warrants to the original consumer purchaser for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns their home (the "Warranty Period" for homeowners), that this faucet will be leak- and drip-free during normal use and all parts and finishes of this faucet will be free from defects in material and manufacturing workmanship. All other purchasers (including purchasers for industrial, commercial and business use) are warranted for a period of 5 years from the original date of purchase (the "Warranty Period" for non-homeowners).
If this faucet should ever develop a leak or drip during the Warranty Period, Moen will FREE OF CHARGE provide the parts necessary to put the faucet back in good working condition"
Were any of the 4 non-bad cartridges leaking or dripping? If not, they're not replaceable under the warranty.
So why not replace them again now, and again next month.
Who knows about anything? Some things last far longer than others that appear to be the same. Or maybe the leaking one was original and the other 3 had already been replaced recently.
Maybe they think people wouldn't ask for good parts to be replacd?
Since all it took was a phone call, he could have asked for 1 that time and others later when they dripped. Or he could have paid.
Please do.
I said, "that doesn't seem right", and i was prepared for you to convince me that it was. You said they didn't ask, but I dont think that addresses whether it's right not not.
Well they figure if you got the brains to use a ratchet you probably got the brains to rebuild the ratchet. It's a gear, switch and a couple of springs.
