hey folks, being the dummy that I am, I tried to force the over door latch open before it was time and bent the thing. Now, the oven door won't open without physically flicking the latch with a butter knife. Does anyone know if I can just bend it back the other way? Or, can I remove the locking mechanism entirely? Thanks!

We can't see it, but if you can see where it's bent you can try bending it back. You might need to wedge something like a chisel or screw driver behind it so it bends where you want it to bend. If it won't go that way, I'd think taking it apart so you can get to it and then bending it would. Hopefully you just bent it and didn't break something too.
1) You might be able to bend it back withou taking it apart. 2) If you have to take it apart, and you get the whole lever out, rather than trying to bend it, you might be better off putting it on something hard but not breakable with the fold-V pointing up and then hammering on the bend-line, so it straigtens out but goes no further. 3) There is also

4) Be sure to use a non-flammable cord and from the range hood you can hang the butter knife.
Take the latch off and clean old fashioned way. Arm power.
