With lining paper do you paste the walls or the paper.

Definitely the paper- then let it soak well in before putting on the wall. If it is a heavy grade paper you might even have to repaste it again before applying. I have even had some cases where i have also had to put a thin film of paste on the wall (even though the walls had been properly 'sized' previously) to get good adhesion. Better to spend a little time preparing than a lot of time repairing!

But if you are just going to paint it then hang it vertically.
