Ah, so they didn't go on and on and on and on?

+another 1. It's really easy, and hobs don't actually use that much gas, so you don't need the gert tank you'd want for central heating.
I've got one. We bought it to help decide if we wanted to swap to an induction hob when we had our kitchen done, because the restrictions on siting gas hobs were a pain.
Good; It's very efficient - you can heat pans *much* more quickly than with gas. I use it to bring things to the boil in preference to gas.
Bad; Simmering doesn't work very well. And a number of our pans don't work.
Unless proper induction hobs have much better simmer control, I still wouldn't buy one.
We have 2 47kg propane bottles on an automatic changeover valve. A bottle lasts ~ 1 year.
What brand/model do you have?
If you can smell gas you have far more serious issues to worry about.

It's a Kenwood IH100 (I think). It was about £25, from Amazon, I think.
Not a bad price. I'll have a look, thanks.
