I have a 2016 iPhone SE that costs $50. It works well. Cheap is the way to be!

It really varies with cell coverage. We always thought Verizon had the best coverage, and yet my mom *barely* gets rural cell service at her house on Verizon. No T-mo or AT&T. Well, Sprint happened to have a nearby tower, and since T-mo bought them out, my $50 2016 iPhone with a dirt cheap T-Mobile prepaid plan has far better coverage at her house than her very expensive new Verizon phone and plan.

I built my computer from new and lightly used parts in late 2015... I spent near $300 on the whole deal, including then newer i5 processor (2nd gen?). 6 years later, it is still trucking right along.

Not a bit. I doubt it's any better now; I've been gone since late 2018. I heard they filed bankruptcy, and their stock went so low that it eventually was no longer publically traded.

Still runs current up to date OS too. The SE was my daughter's "work" phone - provided by the company she worked for - and given to me when she was upgraded. Free to her - and free to me.

The 8 was given to me by a former customer and daughter's former boss when his daughter updated to a 12, giving him her 11, making his 8 redundant. I did a small job for him at his new place of employment and he asked if I could use a new phone. This allowed me to hand down the SE I was using to my wife to replace the 4 my daughter handed down to her which she had been previously using as an i-pod after replacing it as her personal phone several generations back.

I still have a box full of BlackBerry 10s and 30s salvaged when aforementioned customer upgraded all the managers from B Berry to I-Phone - I operated on free B Berries for years, staying a generation or so from current. Loved the Berries - but had to switch to i=phone to be compatible with my hearing aids.

Sounds like Pioneer Aerospace. When I started there they were a going concern--recovering Space Shuttle boosters, putting payloads on Jupiter, etc, and the stock was going for about $50 a share. 5 years later I bought a hundred shares for the price of Big Mac (not the price per share, the whole 100 share block).

How many tech companies have come and gone? Many of even the F500 are gone, or just a shell of what they were. Only 60 companies were in the F500 both in 1955 and 2015.

No, they went under--the remains were purchased by a French company that was going after a US defense contract and needed a US presence.

Note that I didn't buy the stock for investment purposes, I bought it just because I could.

Whether an i5 is "slow" or not depends on the i5. 2015 would likely be 4th generation (if bought new), which ranged from 2 core at 1.6 GHz to 4 core at 3 Ghz. i7 wasn't a lot faster. The main difference between them was more cache on the i7 and no hyperthreading.
