Sorta OT - Know Anyone in NJ Looking for a Job?

Last time I did this, I said the odds were really poor that I'd fond someone via the internet but I had to ask... And we found a great employee. Now he is moving on so I'm asking again.

This is perfect for a retiree or Vo-TECH type student... Someone with metalworking experience is a major plus!

PT position to start. Probably only 10 hours a week to start. Must be mechanically inclined and able to assemble light industrial machinery that we manufacture and sell.

Location is Millington (Long Hill Township) next to Basking Ridge and 5 minutes from 287 or 78.

Flexible hours. Day shift. Rate of pay good based on experience and ability.

If by any chance some of you know some folks, have 'em contact me.

Wow, I'd really love to relocate for a ten hour a week job. I'm a retiree and mechanically inclined. I was a Vo-Tech type student, but that was long before I was a retiree. Would a retiree (willing to relocate) that was a VO-Tech type student (although before he was a retiree), qualify for a higher rate of pay? I would like to send you my resume for your approval. Waiting hopefully, Hank

Mr. Tall Oak (still an impressive name/title), Think of your brilliant words (this post) as a gloat. I grant you a gloat. YOU SUCK!!. Your suckage is both figurative and literal. Keep those prays going? Mr. Sucker (forgot the rooster), I'm the last person that prays, but you're probably the one that preys. I read in the newspaper that that former United States Representative Garry Studds passed away yesterday. I'm at the age where I think 69 years of age is much too young to pass away. Please join me in wishing him the best in the afterlife of his belief. Your friend in Gods and fondest regards, Hank

Hank,

Relocate to NJ? Surely you jest...

But, if you are serious, you should know that the pay is based on the skill level. Everyone starts at the same rate per hour and is raised up as they show competence, reliability, etc.

The last two we hired stayed for a while. One is taking a higher paying job at a big company with his wife and the other is fully retiring to the mountains in southern Argentina... Both are big losses for us and great people... Both started at the same pay rate and showed they could do what we needed so we tried to treat them well.

First test I give people is whether they can tap a 4-40 hole in steel without breaking my tools. :)

Hi Joe, Yeah I was kidding. I really don't want to move to NJ. I don't have anything against NJ and love the shore and the water-gap area. The hills are just a bit too short for good sking. The mountains in Northern Argentina have excellent sking, but southern Argentina is too damn cold in the summer. Tapping a 4-40 hole in steel isn't too difficult. Tapping a 4-40 hole in junk cast iron can be tricky. Good luck with the apprentice program. We need more of them.

Ugh. I spent about 2 hours tonight tapping 4-40s in 11ga stainless steel. No broken tap, but I was sweating it the whole time- there was only one in the shop, and the parts had to be done tonight.

But perfect for motorcycling. :)

So I've been told! I'm hoping to get an invite to visit some day... Argentna is supposedly relatively expensive to live in as far as a S. American country goes - and the government corruption runs deep.

LOL... Yep. I still remember my first broken tap. Aluminum... 6-32... No lubricant. Got "stuck" so I tried to reverse it out. It snapped clean off just below the daggone surface.

Thanks. I'm going to hit the Vo-Techs with a passion today.

I hate one word replies... Thus this preface. Only one word to describe that...

2 hours? How many holes?

Well... four per part, 150 parts. So, 600 holes. Might have been a little faster, but I was cutting them on the laser as I was tapping, so there was a little time spent collecting the parts, changing sheets, in-process QC, etc.

Should have been taps in stock, but someone forgot to reorder them.
