Multiple Copies with Sketchup

Just learned a new trick. Sketchup will make multiple copies at one time if you follow this process correctly:

  1. Select the Move tool.
  2. Press CTRL to go into Copy mode.
  3. Enter the length and direction you want to go and make the copy. (Steps
1-3 are a normal copy.)
  1. Now, once the copy has been made enter "x10" to make 10 copies INCLUDING the first copy (or x3 for 3) and press ENTER. They will be spaced at the distance and direction you specified in step 3.

Now for the cool part: If you enter /3 instead, it'll evenly space 3 copies INCLUDING the first copy) between the original and first copy. If you enter /4, it'll do 4 and so on.

This will save me a bunch of time drawing stairs and railings.

AND FWIW if you done get the result you are looking for, too many copies or not enough, like fence pickets... you can simply retype the quantity before clicking anywhere else and it will alter the result accordingly.
