Akeda Dovetail Jig

I'm considering one of these. Saw a demo and it is easy to setup and use. I also like it's compact size and the dust extraction. Woodcraft was promoting this thing big and now they seem to be dropping it. The website shows it and most of the accessories out of stock. My concern is after purchase support if the manufacturer goes out of business.

Has anybody heard anything about this company? Does anybody have one of these? Comments? What is Akeda's web address?

Thanks for any help you can give.

it as a temporary disruption of business, on 9/12. That's a new company and something over 2 months is a long time for a temporary disruption, but it may be that they're in the process of getting it together again. And it may be that they're not. Two month old news ain't news.

I think it is a great jig. The biggest complaint I have heard is that it is limited to 16 inches, although there are creative ways around this - if you are creative. They are a great company headed up by Kevan Lear, who was involved in the design of the Leigh jig (not sure if he had help or not but he was instrumental). Their web site is

. I wrote a complete review of the jig and have placed the URL below. I am a hand cut dovetail person myself and never had a jig until Kevan sent me one of these. I love it, although I still prefer to cut them by hand to keep in practice.
