Where can I buy cement

Where in North London? Buildbase in Highgate (nearly Muswell Hill actually) will deliver. You may not be able to get less than 25kg at a time though.

The building trade is not very up to date as regards being on-line. Best bet is to look in Yellow Pages for a local builders' merchant.

B&Q usually deliver. I don't know if they actually need you to go into the store and pay first, or if you can phone them up and ask for n bags to be delivered.

I think your requirements are perhaps a bit too challenging for the market. Most Builders' Merchants will deliver for free on a reasonable sized order, 1x 25kg bag is just too small.

Homebase often have split bags which have been put into a rubble bag and discounted. That might help you.

If you need such a small quantity then dry mixed mortar is available in most (if not all) of the sheds in 12.5 kg bags or even smaller. You should be able to get that home on the bus OK.

I was trying to visualise how much cement is in a 25kg bag. I have one bag of cement in our shed left over from last summer's diy in the garden, I will take a look at the weight of that to get a comparison. It just seemed to me that 25kg was an awfull lot. In reality I may need that much. I will also need some builders sand to go with it so the cement will not be the only thing. If I order from Travis Perkins then there some other items they that I need too so the total order will be quite large.

B&Q do 10kg bags of mixed sand and cement at about £1.49 I think.
