TOT black friday deals

Having worked for an e-tailer, it's a chance to shift that slow stock in advance of next years new shiny.

I wonder if 'deal' is covered by the same legislation as 'sales'? For something to be on discounted sale the retailer has to show that it's been available at the full price (somewhere, for some minimum length of time). But maybe you can say 'Black Friday deal' without mentioning any discount, and then sell it at the normal price?

I don't think there's any reason why a 'sale' can't turn into a 'Black Friday deal' with no change in the price, if it previously abided by the rules on sales.

That's an advertising-laden, network connected, Smart TV. it is last years model, a 2023 design, and is going out of production. (It's actually back-ordered and there are none in the store.)

Now, that's similar to the "old days". In the old days, the TV was $3000 launch price, and the Black Friday price was $2000. And there would be a feeding frenzy as pairs of people would run through the store and try to snag the set in question.

For a 55" TCL, people will be walking down to the TV section, and the store will be relatively quiet. After all, if you really really wanted that TCL, you could have had it for $360, picked it up late in the evening when the store is quiet.

Everyone needs to apply the same caution to any "Sale" items. Marketing people do not have your best interests at heart.
