My top tips:

Don't pay British Gas £300 for one hour's labour to swap a radiator.

Don't pay British Gas home cover on a kettle, microwave and toaster.

Don't pay British Gas £3000 for a new boiler when they don't complete the benchmark commissioning form or register it with LABC.

Don't pay (forgotten their name) £800 on a home visit for an eye test and glasses when the NHS will do it for free.

Don't pay £700 for two armchairs advertised in Radio Times.

My mother did, and she was quite sensible with money. Someone gullible coul d have been seriously ripped off.

Don't listen to nice lady on phone who says there is a problem with your computer. I was a bit busy today, otherwise I would have asked her which of the six she meant, and which of the five operating systems.

I did have the time the other week and it took a good ten minutes before he gave up. He remained polite through out, with increasing amount of puzzlement as the call progressed and the "windows key" + wasn't doing what he wanted/expected. Well it wouldn't, OS/2 ignores the "windows" key...

I don't even have a "windows" key. And never have had!

Not on Mint. The Windows key brings up the Menu.

AFAICT, Ctrl-Esc does nothing. YMMV.

I have lots, mostly hanging on hooks near the window.

My cousin, who used to have a fairly large taxi business, running specialised disabled transport for the local authority, would only buy Ford Transits.

wouldn't,

If I have the time I prefer to play them along as much as possible. If they are talking to me and not going to get what they are after, they aren't talking to someone else from whom they may get what they are after.

Can't remember the last time I saw a keyboard without a "windows" key. This PS/2 Compaq keyboard I'm using has two and the "menu" key and it must be approaching 15 years old, maybe more.

The lady enquiring about my traffic accident "in the last two years" unfortunately hung up on me quite quickly. It was my fault. She asked me how many other passengers were in the car, and I just blurted out the first answer that came into my head, which happened to be 23.

If I were a monster in charge of company IT, I'd purposely disable it on every keyboard and if anyone complained they'd be pointed at a typIng co urse,
