SOT: new Outlook

My friend uses Microsoft Mail and has been told she has to transfer tonew Outlook. This is W10 not W11. I have not seen this on screen (asyet) but she tells me the new Outlook appears automatically and asksfor her email address, which it then won't accept. The instructionsonline suggest that new Outlook should be downloaded from the Windowsstore. Does she have to do this or is Windows Mail doing this for her?How can it not accept an email address that is known to Windows Mail.Could the issue be POP3 vs IMAP? Should she be going down the Microsoft route at all or would a thirdparty email like Thunderbird be easier? She is really looking forsomething simple and reliable. Any advice welcome.

Though with Win11 Home you can install with an MSA, then create a local admin, and a local non-admin, then nuke the MSA ... that's probably easier at this point than jumping through the hoops to avoid creating it.

Thanks to all who commented and offered advice in this thread. The outcome is: this has comprehensively discouraged my friend from using New Outlook. My brother installed Thunderbird for her as so far she is happy with that.

Scott, If this doesn't get lost, you might want to look at the tbkeys-lite plug-in which lets you do things like assign the ">" key to move to next message..
