I would guess that airline fittings would not work as they rely on internal pressure to seal.

I've bought the RS ones in the past and thay are good quality - e.g.
684-131 etc. - but relatively expensive.B&Q generally have SIP ones. I've had some of those and they are cheaper but noticably not as good - although they work the latching mechanism is nowhere near as smooth.

Do a search on PCL fittings on eBay, there is a chap in Southampton that regularly sells them - I've had quite a few off him over the years.
