Sort of airline fittings.

I need a couple of those self sealing plug in airline thingies, bulkhead mounting, and the plugs to fit them, but for a vacuum line with a hose of

4mm internal diameter. RS do a range, but they seem pretty expensive for what I need. Any suggestions as to a supplier? I saw the normal 'tyre gauge' size at my local market for a couple of quid, but they're too large.

I would guess that airline fittings would not work as they rely on internal pressure to seal.

I've bought the RS ones in the past and thay are good quality - e.g.

684-131 etc. - but relatively expensive.

B&Q generally have SIP ones. I've had some of those and they are cheaper but noticably not as good - although they work the latching mechanism is nowhere near as smooth.

Have a look at Thomas Wright -

You should be able to find what you want there.

To email, substitute .nospam with .gl

A couple of the big name players are SMC

and Norgren

There are others but I cannot think of them at the moment. SMC in particular tend to be very good value for money (both are good quality). I think RS do both SMC and Norgren, but they may well be ranges where RS got carried away with their markups.

Could be. But my RS cat says the ones they sell are suitable for either.

Dave,

Do a search on PCL fittings on eBay, there is a chap in Southampton that regularly sells them - I've had quite a few off him over the years.

There's a place just behind my factory which specialises in such things. Email me offgroup with what exactly you want (e.g. preferred dimensions, straight or right angled etc) and I'll see what they have.
