Yes, but I think your bit in brackets is the important point. You could have a nationwide SFN as long as any one point could only receive from (say) two transmitters, at least at significant strength(s).

More importantly that the delay between the signals is no so great, that the combination of the two (or more) has a constructive rather than destructive effect.

The figure of UK DAB is about 80km. For the small scale UK DTT SFNs, it's only about 25 km I think. For COM7/8 it's about 70 km

This being the difference between the two paths?
