Yes.

There's not much "frame" around a micro after you've popped the nano part out of it (between 1mm and 3mm on different edges), a bit of sellotape might help it stay attached.

The middle part should fit into another 'frame'. Surprising, really, so they must be made to quite a high degree of precision.

At least, I have done this once, and it worked.

When the new one arrives, you could port your number across, I suppose.

I left GiffGaff, as I thought they were awful. Currently, I pay £1 a month to Lebara. 10 Gig of data and unlimited calls and texts.

You order a new one and transfer the number when you activate it. The old one will then cease to work.

Their cheapest deal now seems to be £5 for 5G of data and 1000 minutes of calls and text.

I wouldn’t use sellotape. The clearances in the SIM card slot are very tight these days.

OK so if that link (thanks, BTW) is to be believed, this should be easier than I expected. Not even any need to remove anything from the iPhone or try and make the existing nano-SIM in the iPhone work in the older clam-shell. Extra!

I tend to keep my (smart) phones until they break or get unreliable so when I got a new phone the old one had a large size sim obtained in the days before the the smaller ones were available.

I got a new smaller sim from GG and used the existing number option during activation.

As mentioned in the article you can only do this between certain times (approx during summer daylight) as the facility is not available overnight. From memory, it took a couple of hours for the number to be transferred to the new SIM during which the old SIM still worked.

Adapters are also useful if doing temporary swaps or regularly using a SIM in more than one phone.

Probably ok if you can get a signal but as it uses Vodafone that's a no go for me.

Anyone looking to change should check out the signal strength of each of the carriers in their area.

I'm on GiffGaff and I've done it a couple of times with no issues.

It tells me here that Vodafone are slightly worse than the others, and they are all bad.

Which is why we made sure both our phones will use WiFi calling.

Sadly mine is a lot better than hers, and this is apparently my fault ;)

Nah. It’ll still be your fault for not researching all potential faults and issues (should any develop) and not warning her.

In a couple of weeks I will be inserting the new SIM I got from giffgaff into my old Doro clam-shell, and porting the number over from my iPhone, which will then effectively be retired.

Yee-har! No more f****ng apps!

I just carry both! A tiny dumbphone that works well as a phone and needs charge topping up about once a week and cost 20 quid.

But the other one, poor as a phone, gets used as a camera, satnav, payment terminal, debit card, parking payment, charging payment, Wetherspoons ordering, book reader, e-mail client, music player, sound recorder, torch, event check-in (as event organiser), theatre tickets, diary not taker, shopping list, calendar, address book, password safe, taxi summoner, Premium Bond prize checker, calculator... (and they're just the ones I use regularly!

I don't think I'm giving up on apps yet!

(I did have to replace my dumbphone. The old Nokia flip still works brilliantly except on some cells, one of which happens to cover my house, it doesn't always work properly on the old soon to disappear protocols, incoming sound missing. New dumbphone with 4G is fine.)
