Seeking 'corner mount' heavy duty castors to replace mystery buckling ones

Hi All I have a 'portable workbench' from Rapid Racking - like some Rapid Racking shelving but on castor wheels. So made from perforated angled steel etc., with braces



Rather to my astonishment, overnight the workbench 'collapsed' on two corners. It looks like part of the metal fixing of the castors has buckled.



I am doubly surprised because (a) I had always thought RR was one of the better manufacturers of this sort of thing, and (b) there was not a lot of weight on the bench, its own weight was probably the majority.



Be that as it may, I am looking for replacement castors, maybe to fit with some reinforcement plates. To fit the iron angles, I think I want 'corner mount' castors (with approx 100mm wheels). Rapid Racking don't seem to do these as spares, and TBH I would be chary of buying replacements from them, given my recent experience.



However I don't seem to be able to source anything similar, to my surprise. The only thing I can find is this:

Am I missing a search term? I would have thought this was a fairly common fitting...

Apparently not. There are quite a few corner-mounting *wheels*, but since they work in one plane and don't swivel, they are not technically castors. Lots of real castors, but they are all side mounting ie two fixing plates.

I had thought that PA equipment makers would do these, such as Penn and Elcom, but they don't seem to. I'm convinced I've seen this sort of thing on the corners of big black boxes being shunted around by roadies, but it seems not. The ones you found are a bit small, but I don't think you'll find anything much cheaper. Amazon do a set of four that look quite similar to these for $15 plus delivery.

Have you considered retractable castors for your workbench

When the bench is in use it stands on its own feet for stability and when needed to be moved the lever is foot operated to lower the castors in place. The above is just an example I have some more heavy duty versions on a mitre saw sand just cannot find the exact ones without scrolling back through a pile of back orders.

Are you sure? A Google search for "flight case castors" turns up, for me, a large amount of castors but pretty much none with the 'angle fitting' that I am seeking.

Or get some castors with just a spindle and 3d print a corner block to take them. Or weld in a plate, or whatever technology you have access to
