Shelving wood...

Where's the best sort of place to get this, had a look in B&Q and it seems very expensive for what it is.

Looking at shelves at least 8-10in deep

look for firms doing cut to size mdf. then decorate yourself

B&Q usually is. timber merchants, wickes, wherever's nearby. Prices are very low for cheap shelving materials, and pricey for some. I'd skip mdf, as well as looking lousy its very water vulnerable IMLE.

Cheapest is chip-board, then ply and then soffit. Soffit looks best barge board even better but how many lengths do you need and long do you want them?

Softwood bull nose window board may be a bit thick (25mm or 32mm seems the choice) about GBP6/metre.
