Scam?

Track your package alert from Amazon.

Clicked on the button which took me to the Amazon page offering e-mail or mobile phone login.

They have my mobile number so I duly entered it. Not recognised came back. Not sure if I tried again or just went to e-mail and logged in normally.

A few hours later I got a phone message from Zap refunds offering to help me claim for a non existent PPI loan!

AFAIK my mobile number is not generally available.

As John Rumm suggested in the thread on "Phishing?" on 21/7 a start would be to look at the details of the email purporting to come from Amazon (open it for reading and then CTRL+U). You should be able to see there where it really came from.

Note that emails really from Amazon don't necessarily come from the amazon.co.uk domain. E.g. I had one today from amazonses.com. But it can be checked.

I let my browser fill in my log-in details, as the browser won't be fooled by a site that's subtly misspelled, eg ama2on or amaz0n.

It's probably on a database now, and somebody is making a small amount of money selling it to others.

Looks authentic. Within my limitations:-)

I don't have the rejected login.

Yes. I did a quick search for a mobile number linked to my name. There are several sites offering lookups, initially free. The two I tried came up with the same Tim Lamb, St. Albans but not me.

Oh well!

I had a scam very recently telling me my Btinternet access has been locked due to too many failed attempts, and to review the attached PDF immediately. But as my internet access was working normally, it seemed a rather stupid attempt at a scam. It was from a snipped-for-privacy@coit.esp

Yeah; Bt, I don't think so!

Were you expecting a package from Amazon?

I get popups on dodgy sites telling me "My location is Known! Buy a VPN" It either says Hemel Hemstead or somewhere in Dorset. Nether are my 'IP location'.

Yes. Printer ink.

I have used the same number since Vodafone was an infant and this is the first spam SMS ever!
