Missing tabs for electric socket

I've got a couple of electric sockets mounted on plasterboard that have one of the yellow tabs missing that is used to grip the back box to the plasterboard so the sockets are only held by the one screw at the other side. The boxes has been badly plastered round so that trying to remove the whole back box is going to make a mess of the surrounding plaster. Does anyone know if its possible to put a new yellow tab on or is there some other clever way to attach the socket firmly to the plasterboard?

If you can find a similar box (i.e same brand and range - does not need to be a double / single specifically), then you can normally take the tab from that and fit it to the already installed one - they insert from the inside.

Worth checking for the reason that the yellow tab has been left out.

From your description it is not a perfect install.

If there is something preventing the other tab from deploying and gripping the back of the plasterboard that might explain why it has been removed from the back box.

Yes. Appleby seem to use yellow, rather than red, blue, white etc used by other manufacturers

Thanks to everyone who replied. They do seem to be the Appleby boxes and with a bit of persuasion the tabs can be extracted from a new box and used for the repair.
