Samsung American FF redundant wiring connector?

Took delivery last week of a model RS6aA8830S9 and had to hake the freezer door of to get it in the kitchen. No prpblems there whatsoever.

Put the door back on OK and then started to connect up the wiring connectorsI connected up two pairs with their unique matching Male and Female partners. Then the next two connectors went in to their unique matching connectors under the hinge cover. Oner of these was obviously for the beeper. Because each pair is unique in terms of size, shape and number of pins, there is zero possibility od a mismatch.

This left one terminal wire with its 5 pin connector that had no apparent corresponding connector. Raise this question with Samsung and so far after 3 contacts have not had a sensible answer from them. They recommended at one stage that I organise one of their techcicians/installers to come around - at a cost of £114 which I declined. Is it common to have a redundant connector on a model that is supposed to have all the regular features?

I don't recall having any left over on ours... but recall that the manual's description of the process was fairly complete. Does yours not have a similar guide?

You could always fire it up and see - worth that is likely to happen would be something not working.

Are you suggesting it was actually connected and then you took the door off, or did they come separately? If the latter is it the right door for the model and features. I guess they could be all the same but one is only used in some models, but one might have expected a tag to this effect. Brian

No, I'm not suggesting it was connected before. When I took the hing cover off, I just set about disconnecting the connectors. It was only when I put the door back on that I noticed the anomaly. The manual tells you how to reove and refit the door but does not go into detials of the wiring connectors. These phos may help...

I would guess that there’s possibly an internet enabled fridge (or some other gadget) in some markets and they just have a “universal” wiring loom that they use for all models. It’s incredibly common in cars and I would expect it to be similarly common in many other modern appliances.

Indeed. I recall one car of mine that had the bulb holders, switches and wiring for foot well illumination, but in my model, no bulbs were fitted. Once tipped off about this, they were quickly installed.

Mine came fully assembled - but they are deeper than a standard door width - so you need to take the doors off to get the depth down to something that will go through a doorway.

Yes, the Samsung doors are much thicker these days and thats why I took the freezer door off. It's thicker than the fridege dfoor because the dispenser hood projects out. If your model numbe starts with RS68A can you have a peek under the freezer hinge cover?

Next Part M building regs revision ? - all doors to be

3 foot, internal and external :-)

(Currently 2'9" external, 2'6" internal, or metric equivalent - AFAIK).

I always thought that it was perverse to mandate a ground floor loo but still make it difficult for wheelchair access.

Mine is a RSG5UUMH1 - about 10 years old at this point - so not sure it would help much.
