Is Howdens open to the general public or would I need to show trade credentials there also?
In the area I live, I am quite limited to only a few suppliers so I have a choice of B&Q, MFI, Moben and Magnet (the last two are out of my price range!)

What you do is...go back to MFI and inform them that you had a quote of 30% knocked of a similair deal to the one they're offering and can they beat that quote to clinch the deal. ;-)
"Trade credentials" usually means a van and painty jeans with a tape-measure on the belt.

Agreed. Their delivery is appalling and the only reasonable way around it (other than to buy elsewhere) is to hold back as much of the price as possible until delivery. This, their salesman will find very difficult to accomodate.
