Fitted Bedroom furniture

Having just had a couple of the major fitted bedroom furniture companies around to give us quotes for 2 double bedrooms (we're looking at anything from £5000 upwards) I was thinking of checking out companies that might provide us with the units ( made to measure) and I would do the fitting. I have located one such company

and would like any feedback from other users plus alternatives that anyone may like to suggest. Anyone used MFI or is that to embarrasing to admit to

Many thanks

I wouldn't laugh at MFI. They have some seriously good stuff now. They're not the same company as in the 1980s when it was all missing legs and manky chipboard.

Just finishing mine now - I used Wickes fited bedrooms (having used their stuff for my new kitchen last year) and am very pleased with the quality. I was very careful with the deisgn as you have to take into account the sizes of the various units etc they sell, but it worked well and looked great - cost about £1200 for fitted furniture.

They are worth a look.

I can vouch for that too.

Just finshed fitting a new Schreiber kitchen purchased from MFI. The quality of the components was very good, The delivery was on the day they agreed, EVERYTHING was there in the first delivery. And not a single thing damaged ( well , not before I started fitting it anyway ;-) ) The saleman that did the design and sold it to us was also very helpful, and there was absolutely NO pressure in trying to get us to buy. ( He even reccomended that we buy the sink and oven from elsewhere because MFI are expensive for those items.... ) He just did the design, printed off the quotes and piccys, and said give us a call or come in if you want to buy it.

I will certainly be going back there to consider their products when we get round to re-fitting our bedrooms.

I wanted fitted bedroom furniture that would fit up against a sloping ceiling. The Wickes range is designed to do this and it worked very well. Yes it is MDF but looks like light oak or something. 3 double units with internal drawers, hanging rails and 2 bedside cabinets to match came in 90 separate packages. There were two items not delivered and one damaged and they sorted this out immediately. We are quite pleased with the result even though it is MDF.

Agreed. We bought some furniture from the local MFI store recently. SWMBO wanted a sideboard, and boy did we get a substantial sideboard! No rickety joints, easy to put together, everything fitted.

Delivered on time. Everything about the purchase was good. I think they may have a new management team at the top these days, it's nothing like the experience of a few years ago.

One thing that has changed is that the local MFI store now carries no stock. You used to be able to drive up, but the stuff you wanted, load up the car with flatpacks, and go home and try and guess which bit was missing.

Yes we visited this afternoon and was quite impressed (especially the Schreiber). They also have a special deal till December 17th which gives a hefty discount if you need to fit 2 bedrooms at the same time , which we do What put me off originally was that in addition this old image they used to have, the lady quoting us the highest prices for their fitted stuff said whatever you do don't choose MFI. It looked OK to me and thats why I want others feedback

The other thing that really p****d me off was all these special offers discounts etc that the all in fitted outfits were promoting. If you bought at the supposedly original price it comes out at anything from £7-8K upwards which is ridiculous. They must decide what they can sell it for, double it, then offer it at a 50% discount
